Happy Halloween, ladies!
Does anyone have any special plans for the holiday? I for one would love to attend a haunted tea party, or a good old fashioned masquerade.
Oh, those are such cute ideas!
Regrettably, I work tonight, from six PM until about eleven thirty. When I realized that, I got very sad; Halloween is one night when we can be princesses and nobody thinks twice or asks, "Why are you so dressed up?", and I would have liked to sit in the lounge in the Library and read.
There was a "masquerade ball" in the Student Center last Thursday, but I didn't attend. I really had no costume, nor material for a mask. I was sad to have missed it; next year I will certainly plan better.
A haunted tea party would be absolutely lovely! I can picture chocolate cakes with orange frostings, delicate black teacups, a dim parlor lit by candles, and maybe a smoke machine hidden away somewhere to cover the floor in mist (for a little extra spooky atmosphere)
It just occurred to me, you know what would be fun? Purchase plain teacups and porcelain paint and create a set of Halloween teacups, with spiderwebs in silver and black...!
By the way, when is your birthday that you would do these? Coming up soon, I assume?
Yes, my birthday is November 26th. Even though people seem to immediately shift their minds to "winter" and "Christmas" after Thanksgiving, it's still autumn! So I think Enchanted Pumpkins and Fortune-telling Apples are entirely appropriate!
I wish I knew of any masquerades going on so I could attend. Sadly I have to work tonight also, so I don't have any plans. :( But I would like to do something next year.
Oh, I see. Honestly, that's a wonderful time for an autumn-themed birthday! (Decorations are going on sale! ^_^) I can see that being very, very fun.
Hmm. Well, my college put on the Masquerade, perhaps you can see if there are any local colleges hosting similar events? They may not be open to the public, but if there are any friendly Lolitas there... ~_^
I'm partying! it's a safe party though ^_^
and I'm trying to get a friend to crash the party hehe!
those are some good ideas! thanks for sharing! I wish I had an autumn birthday so I could be all pumpkin-y... I'm a spring baby!
That's pretty nifty, thank you! There is another fortune telling thing with apples that I used to do as a child. (Maybe it's more known in Germany than elsewhere?)
You peel an apple with a knife and try to keep the peel in one piece. When you've succeeded you drop it behind you (over your shoulder) and think of your future love. Then turn around - look, what letter the peel's form resembles. That's the first letter of your future love's name!
